Alexander Sheversky

Bio

Alexander Sheversky was born in 1961 in the Republic of Moldova, the son of an accomplished artist.  Alexander has fond memories of being in his father's studio, where his creativity was encouraged, and he was allowed to assist his father as he developed his own talents.   He went on to attend the I.E. Repin Institute of Art, where the emphasis is on the art of the Northern European Renaissance, and classical details like the study of light and shadow.

Eventually, Sheversky's artistic career led him to Moscow, where he enjoyed great recognition.  This led to a brief time in Czechoslovakia, where he felt, his mind was opened to a western way of life.  In 1991, Alexander and his family emigrated to Israel, where the lived for seven years.  He has lived in Canada since 1997, first in Toronto, then in Vancouver, and now in the beautiful Okanagan.

This is an artist who truly captures the essence of beauty with his brushstrokes, whether he is painting a still life, a ballerina, or an assortment of candy in a crystal clear Mason jar.  Clean, modern, crisp. Sheversky's art speaks to his technical training, discipline, and great patience. Alexander employes these same skills, in his daily practice of yoga.

When asked about his inspiration, the artist had this to say, "When the sunlight is up in the morning and falls through the window on my objects in the studio, with it comes happiness.  The life has come.  Every morning I wait for this moment."

Collectors in many parts of the world, who own the artwork of Alexander Sheversky, no doubt feel that to look at this artist's work is to embrace those same feelings of happiness, calm, and appreciation for every good moment.
