Dear Friends of Gallery 421,

Here we are, at the start of a brand-new year, which means out with the old, and in with the new.  And what a year we had!  We want to say THANK YOU to our wonderful collectors and our family of artists, for your tremendous support in 2021!   We were busier than ever bringing you new art, new artists, and a new team member.

The newest member of “Team 421”, Grace Moran, relocated from Ontario, and brings with her plenty of knowledge and experience in the wonderful world of art.  If you haven’t met Grace yet, we know that you’re going to enjoy getting to know her as much as we all have.  Welcome, Teammate!

And by the time you’re reading this, we will be saying, “Welcome back!” to two of our teammates, owner Ken Moen, and associate Lori Hogarth, who have both had some time off recently.  They will once again be showing their smiling faces to everyone who crosses our threshold.

We’ve also welcomed several artists to our “family”, so if you haven’t visited for a while, you’re in for a treat.  Adding new members to our group of long-term, well-loved, highly respected artists, keeps us all…staff, artists, and collectors, happy and excited to enjoy new styles, techniques, and ideas.

Lyse Deselliers brings us Okanagan images, often from a unique, birds-eye aerial point of view, as well as charming paintings that feature the back alleys and streets that can still be found in the older neighbourhoods of Kelowna, Penticton, Summerland, and the surrounding area.  Her colours are clear and fresh, just like her ideas.

Julia Hargreaves is a very well-known, award-winning artist whose skill in creating exquisite realism in her birds and wildlife, has brought her recognition in England and the United States, as well as here in Canada, which she has called home for many years.

Alexander Sheversky is a classically trained artist, whose confident use of light and shadow brings exquisite, fine detail to each of his subjects.  Whether it is a glorious portrait of a ballerina, exact images of candy, contained in perfect glass jars, or the magic combination of a beautiful woman next to a powerful Ferrari…. Sheversky does it all.

In the year ahead, we have several very exciting shows planned (you’ll receive invitations) and as always, we’d love to see you…..in the gallery for coffee, in your home for a consultation or to help you hang your art, or in your office, for help with the building of your corporate collection.

At Gallery 421, we know that art is an emotional as well as a visual experience and we invite you to come in and feast your eyes and feed your soul.  We love to visit, share our expertise, and help you beautify your lives!

We wish you a truly wonderful New Year of 2022.

The Team @ Gallery 421

Hello Friends of Gallery 421,

Well, it’s official…….. “Spring Has Sprung!”   In the garden, and at Gallery 421, spring means fresh, new and exciting!   So let us share some of that……

Fresh, wow! Over the Family Day weekend, our art gallery was given a bright, fresh coat of paint. That makes the gallery team very happy, indeed.

New…. Oh yes, we have new. Over the past couple of weeks, it feels like Christmas with the excitement of unpacking brand new paintings from artists, Christian Bergeron, Jackie Faye Miller, David Langevin, Everist Prokofiev, and Angela Morgan.

Exciting….hmmmm….DEFINITELY! ! !

Gallery 421, Kelowna's favourite fine art gallery !!

Hello Friends of Gallery 421,

Gallery 421 is proud to welcome Ontario artist, Bethany Harper Williams to our family of artists. Her paintings bring a sense of fresh, lively energy that lift our spirits and make us smile.  We are delighted to be her representative in British Columbia, and we know you’re going to love Bethany’s work. Take a look!

It is “Spring Show” time for Gallery 421.  You’ll recall 2020 was the first year we were unable to present our usual, “great food, great wine, and a big crowd” type of exhibition. Instead, we brought you a virtual, video experience that was a big hit!  In case you missed that 2020 Spring Art Show, you can still find it on our website.

This spring and summer, we will present four “Solo Exhibits”, on four separate dates.  By making appointments, guests will have the opportunity to view, visit and chat with the artists, in a separate area of the art gallery.  It allows for about  fifteen feet of physical distance, as well as masks, of course.  This arrangement was so well received in the fall, that you, our clients, have asked for a repeat performance.  Happy to oblige!  Do mark your calendars……

Friday April 9th 6-8 pm by appointment, or drop-in Saturday April 10th 1 to 3:30 pm. Clients are invited to meet and visit with Brent Heighton, one of our favorite people, who has been represented by the art gallery since its very beginning.  Whether you are transported to your own memories of European vacations, looking at an Amsterdam street scene, or captivated by the energy of his fields of flowers, once you’ve really looked at a Brent Heighton painting…..you will always recognize the hand of this truly gifted Canadian artist.

Friday, June 11th 6-8 pm by appointment, or drop-in Saturday, June 12th 1 to 3:30 pm. Clients are invited to meet and visit with the dynamic, internationally recognized artist, Angela Morgan. Morgan’s figurative paintings …….ladies enjoying cocktails, two boys going fishing, exuberant skiers riding the chair lift……are animated, joyful, and fun.  Rather like the artist herself!  Angela’s paintings are exhibited in Canada, the US, Switzerland, and Ireland.

Friday, June 18th 6-8 pm by appointment, or drop-in Saturday, June 19th 1 to 3:30 pm. It is your opportunity to meet a wonderful Kelowna artist, Debra Martin. Known for her bold, luscious, red poppy paintings, Okanagan vineyards, and still life “wine” series, Martin’s work is both vibrant and refined.  Whether heavily textured, or soft and smooth, Deb Martin’s paintings are just like her….totally elegant!

Friday, June 25th 6-8 pm by appointment, or drop-in Saturday 1 to 3:30 pm. Welcoming the arrival of summer….  you are invited to come and visit with one of Canada’s well-known, award-winning artists, Jonn Einerssen. The “big sky” is Jonn Einerssen’s signature, whether in a prairie landscape, or a powerful, vast ocean seascape. 2021 marks Einerssen’s 50th Anniversary as a professional artist, and we are proud to celebrate that with him.  This year, Jonn has returned to using the palette knife for some of his paintings, giving his collectors even more to admire from this extremely talented artist!

We look forward to seeing you at Gallery 421, where the coffee is always fresh, and the smiles are free!

And keep an eye on our website, where you will see new fine art as it arrives, and where we are planning our “Feature Artist” events, as well as our brand new, “Guest Artist” series.   Surprises in store….as always!

Gallery 421, your friendly fine art gallery in Kelowna!

Hello Friends of Gallery 421,

The first thing we want to say is THANK YOU. To You....our amazing clients and You, our talented artists, for your tremendous support in 2020!!

In spite of the challenges, we have all faced, Gallery 421 continues to provide wonderful fine art in a safe and beautiful environment. With a few little changes........

For our big Spring Show, we brought in a professional filmmaker to create a “Virtual Show” in video form. That show included visits to artists studios and interviews that gave viewers a glimpse into how our artists create.  It also gave us an opportunity to create in the world of film, so if you missed it......it is on our website!

Also, exciting, is our presence at the gorgeous winery in Lake Country “Ex Nihilo”. Gallery 421 is proud to be the curator of the onsite art gallery there, called “Creatio Gallery”. The entire space showcases the paintings of Gallery 421 artists. With the amazing wine, a stunning view, and Gallery 421 fine art, a drive to Ex Nihilo is a fun trip! You should go!!

Fall 2020 brought two new names to the Gallery 421 “Family of Artists”. The Fall Show signaled the arrival of the well-known Penticton sculptor and painter, Michael Hermesh, and we are also proud to now represent an artist from England, John Haskins.  If you have not seen them yet, please take a look at John’s delightful paintings on our website.  Better yet .... come into the art gallery for a visit! These are paintings that capture the charm of old country cottages, the cafes of France and Italy, and the joy of children swimming or playing in the snow.

Fall 2020 also brought our signature series of intimate happy hours and private appointments giving our clients the opportunity to visit one on one with our artists. A fabulous success !!

Our final plans to round out the festive season:

  • VANCE THEORET Friday 5 - 7 pm November 27…. just like Santa himself, delivering stone carved Hockey Bears galore! Call us to book your private visit with Vance.
  • THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS !! Three weeks in December …. Five Feature Artists …. plus, the new arrival of small studies, unique, affordable, original art, indeed the ultimate and exquisite holiday gift !
