Bio

Julia Hargreaves, MA, MBA, PG Dip Mktg.

Hargreaves originally lived in the UK where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Art from the prestigious Manchester Metropolitan University. Since emigrating to Canada in 2001 she has successfully pursued a career as a full-time artist, with representation in several Canadian and U.S. galleries. Hargreaves has been published internationally and selected multiple times for major exhibitions, including the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum’s Birds in Art National US tour and the Canadian, Ducks Unlimited National Art Portfolio.
 
As a Juried Member of Artists for Conservation Foundation she has appeared numerous times in their annual exhibition and was selected for their Medal of Honour. She has also been featured in several publications including The Oprah Magazine’s Top 10 Books for Christmas for Birdscapes - A Pop-Up Celebration of Bird Songs which she illustrated. Her work has won several awards in International Artist Magazine and she has appeared in the magazine as a contributing artist and author. 
 
Conservation is a large part of her work. In pursuit of excellence, and to research the natural habitat of her subject matter, she has taken part in extensive Wilderness River Expedition Artists Federation canoe trips to Caribou Woodland Park and the Missinaibi River in Ontario ending at James Bay, sketching and recording the Boreal Forest and the Kobuk River, Alaska, to observe grizzly bear habitat north of the Arctic Circle. Known for her incredible detail, viewers are invited to find the inclusion of several insects and arachnids within the compositions.
