Bio

Born in South Africa, Yolanda emigrated to Canada with her husband and young son in 2004. While still in South Africa, she had left her law practice to follow her heart and pursue a career as a full-time artist. It was in 2008 that the family moved to Kelowna, BC, where she now lives.

The intense colours of the South African landscape, including very dramatic sunsets and storm clouds, continue to influence the works of this artist. Every painting that leaves her easel is bold, bright and dramatic, using thick, juicy paint to emphasize the foreground.

Largely a self-taught artist, Yolanda continues on a path to continuously grow, learn and improve her craft by attending professional artists’ workshops and receiving mentorship from highly respected artists. As an associate member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, De Villiers has had her work juried into a number of shows and exhibitions, including:
